Marion County is in the process of converting to Bonfire for all formal solicitations (Bids, RFPs, & RFQs). This conversion is estimated to take place around January 1, 2025. All solicitation documents must be obtained as noted below.

For all solicitation types (Bids, RFPs, & RFQs) posted on or after  January 1, 2025, please visit the Bonfire website. You must register with Bonfire to view the official solicitation documents, however Bonfire registration is free for all vendors.

Additionally, Marion County will NO LONGER ACCEPT mail in (written) submissions for all formal solicitations that are posted through Bonfire. All responses MUST be entered through the Bonfire system at the link above or your submittal will be deemed non-responsive.

Procurement Services uses the DemandStar system to provide information about current solicitations to potential contractors, consultants, other vendors, and the general public. The system allows subscribers to receive information about current solicitations quickly at any time of day. Subscribers may also use the system to obtain copies of bids and requests for proposals (RFPs).

What is a local vendor?

Local businesses interested in doing business with Marion County may sign up to receive instant bid notifications through the county’s Local Vendor Directory.

The directory contains listings of local vendors for dozens of services ranging from building and road construction, electrical repairs, plumbing, and tree trimming, office machine repairs, internet, and printing services. 

Benefits of being on the directory.

Local vendors get more opportunities. All county commission departments and offices are required to use this directory when soliciting quotes.

Local vendor requirements.

Local vendor: a Marion County resident, firm, or corporation which:

1. Has headquarters, manufacturing facilities, or a locally-owned franchise located in, or having a street address within, the legal boundaries of Marion County for at least year immediately prior to the issuance of the request for quotation or formal bid solicitation (NOTE: post office boxes do not qualify as a business address);
2. Thirty percent or more of its full-time employees have primary residences located within the legal boundaries of Marion County; and
3. The owner or principal officer of such local vendor maintains a primary residence within the legal boundaries of Marion County.
