This is the second year that the race will take place at the Carney Island Recreation & Conservation Area in Ocklawaha, FL. The trail is an unpaved, well-groomed service road for park attendants. It meanders through classic Florida woods & meadows alongside swamp areas. There are views of Lake Weir along the southern portion & majestic live oaks grace the meadow areas.
Benefits
Marion County is home to Silver Springs, one of the world’s largest & most famous artesian springs, along with Rainbow Springs & Silver Glen. Our natural lakes, rivers, & springs make Marion County a beautifully unique place to live, work, & play. Because we use this same water for drinking and other daily activities, we all play a role in keeping our water clean.
All proceeds from the Run for the Springs 5K are available to Marion County residents in the form of septic maintenance reimbursement grants.
