Education Impact Fees Approved March 5, 2024

Impact fees are a method of ensuring new or expanded development bears a portion of the financial burden to build or expand public infrastructure to accommodate the development.

We collect impact fees per Florida Statute 163.31801. The transportation impact fee schedule can be viewed as part of county ordinance 15-14.

This fee schedule is based on the most recent impact fee report completed June 12, 2015. The fee analysis included in the report is presented in the following sections:

  • Demand component
  • Cost component
  • Credit component
  • Calculated transportation impact fee schedule
  • Transportation benefits districts analysis
  • Economic growth strategy

Marion County is home to nearly 400,000 residents & continues to welcome 220 new residents each week.

To ensure our infrastructure can meet the demands of our growing population, a study is being conducted for transportation impact fees. The school district has initiated a study as well. A study on reinstating the fire services impact fee is being  discussed.
