Through the Marion County Firefighter Benevolence Fund, members of the Professional Firefighters of Marion County Local 3169 work together to positively impact the community through myriad charitable endeavors.

Founded in 2005, the Benevolence Fund leads a mission to aid and protect MCFR membership and the community of Marion County through medical hardship. Coordinated volunteer efforts, financial aid, and the support of friends and families guide those in need through the healing process.

Seasonal Events

During the Spring, the Benevolence Fund hosts the annual Stop Drop & Run 5k Race to raise breast cancer awareness and funds for the Michelle-O-Grams charity, which provides free mammograms to under privileged women in the community.

In the Fall, Benevolence Fund members participate in Marion County’s Annual Chili Cook-off, which raises funds for The Cornerstone School, and hosts the Salt Water Classic Fishing Tournament.

During the Holiday season firefighters work tirelessly with the Marion County School Board to collect and distribute Christmas gifts for children who might otherwise go without.

Additional Charitable Events

The benevolent spirit of MCFR firefighters isn’t only seasonal, though. Whether it’s assisting brothers’ and their families with medical bills, collecting non-perishables for local food pantries or supporting safety programs, Local 3169 members are passionate protectors of the community throughout the year.
