There are two public comment sections on the county commission meeting agenda.

• The county commission meeting agenda is different than the Planning & Zoning commission meeting agenda.
• The P&Z commission meetings are typically held on the third Tuesdays of each month with speaking signups accepted in person prior to the associated meeting affording the 2 minutes per speaker.

Public comments to the county commission meetings held at 9 a.m. on the first & third Tuesdays of each month are permitted after speakers provide their name & address as well as indicates who he or she represents & which agenda item the speaker intends to reference.

Speakers wishing to provide the commission with hard copies or handouts must supply 10 copies of such materials to county administration prior to the beginning of the respective commission meeting.

This section is reserved for members of the public wishing to discuss items listed on the morning meeting's agenda. Scheduled requests to speak will be heard first & limited to five minutes. The deadline for scheduling a speaking request is the Friday before the meeting by 5 p.m.

Residents may contact county administration at 352-438-2300 to request to speak or submit an online request. Those who do not submit a request in accordance with the above guidelines are still welcome to sign up to speak on the day of the meeting and will be allotted two minutes.

This section of the morning meeting's agenda is reserved for members of the public wishing to discuss items not listed on the meeting's published agenda. Scheduled requests to speak during the morning meeting will be heard first & limited to five minutes. The deadline for scheduling a speaking request is the Friday before the meeting by 5 p.m.

Anyone from the public may participate in discussion held during public hearings. Discussion is limited to the item listed on the meeting’s agenda. The board chairman will call for interested parties to be heard as each item for discussion is introduced.

Parties interested in speaking should walk to the front of the auditorium & stand at either speaker's lectern to be recognized by the board chairman. The individual will need to state their name & address, then indicate who he or she represents. If distributing additional back-up material, please provide the county administrator with 10 copies prior to the beginning of the commission meeting.
