Home MenuTraffic Operations
We are responsible for traffic operations & engineering.
Traffic Operations consists of design, construction & maintenance of signals, signs & pavement markings.
Traffic engineering focuses on design review, safety audits, traffic studies & evaluating real time levels of service of signals & roadways through our Traffic Management Center.
Our section inspects traffic control devices installed in conjunction with subdivision & roadway construction. We also check compliance with the manual of uniform traffic control devices & the Florida Department of Transportation.
Our staff also conducts traffic counts, speed studies, crash analysis & other data collection. Crash information is collected from various sources & analyzed to identify hazardous locations & recommend improvements. Safety audits may be conducted at high crash-rate locations, which could result in the implementation of a plan for safety improvements.

- Look out for children biking or walking, especially as you approach intersections & school crossings.
- Stop for pedestrians in crosswalks & for school buses displaying a stop signal.
- Watch for changes in traffic patterns that may have occurred over the summer.
