Road Maintenance

We are focused on providing sound, efficient, & reliable maintenance repairs and enhancements to the county-maintained road system. Workers maintain more than 2,900 miles of paved & unpaved roads within Marion County.

Additional roads within, but not maintained by, the county may:

  • Fall under another governmental authority (city, state, federal)
  • Be privately owned
  • Be under developer maintenance
  • Include those not previously accepted for maintenance by the county commissions.

Due to the vast number of miles of county-maintained road in the system, the road maintenance section is unable to frequently inspect every roadway. That makes assistance from the public reporting road hazards or maintenance needs all the more important. In some instances, road maintenance workers will take immediate corrective action & in others work will be scheduled according to availability.

Paving residential roadway

While they all may look similar, not all local roadways are maintained by the same entity. Before completing an application to pave a residential roadway, it helps to know how & who, to contact. Follow these steps to get started paving.
