Marion County, FL
Home MenuDevelopment Review
We provide efficient & effective review, evaluation & monitoring of all development project activities within the unincorporated areas of Marion County. Our office receives, routes, & monitors all development project submittals. This includes coordinating the review of all master plans, preliminary plats, improvement plans, final plats, major site plans & waiver requests for compliance with the Marion County Land Development Code.
During the review process, Development Review serves as a central hub for the compilation of all county review comments. Projects with completed reviews are scheduled once a week as agenda items for the Development Review Committee (DRC).
The DRC consists of five voting members including the county engineer, Growth Services director, Utilities director, Planning & Zoning manager, & fire marshal who will make a motion for approval or disapproval of agenda items. Disapproval of any agenda item by the DRC may be appealed to the county commission, whose decision shall be final.
Development Review Committee deadlines
Review the schedule for upcoming DRC meetings (held Mondays at 9 a.m.), as well as the waiver submittal deadline for the corresponding DRC meeting. A schedule for weekly staff meetings (held Thursdays at 8:30 a.m.) is also included.
ePlans
Marion County ePlans is a web-based system for electronic plan submittal and review. EPlans saves time & money while promoting a more efficient review process. Submittals are reviewed simultaneously, reviewer comments are viewed in ePlans as a written document as well as illustrated on submitted drawings. In addition, experience with the ePlans system has found that when using the ePlans system, only a minimal number of plans require printing.
