Assistance with languages other than English

Each year, Marion County becomes home to thousands of new citizens. As our population continues to grow, so do the demands for public services.
Nearly 15% of Marion County’s population speaks a language other than English (U.S. Census Bureau 2022 estimate). A majority of speakers of other languages are Hispanic or Latino & make up about 16% of the county's population.

As a recipient of federal financial assistance, Marion County government is required to comply with Title VI of the Civil Rights Act of 1964 and Executive Order 13166 by taking reasonable steps to increase accessibility of its programs & services for citizens with low-English proficiency (LEP). A person with LEP is not able to read, speak, write, or understand the English language at a level necessary to interact effectively with Marion County government.
