Marion County, FL
Home MenuPublic Information
Our multifaceted organization aims to keep the public informed at all times regarding the department’s performance, safety issues & concerns affecting the community & local medical & fire incidents. We do this by connecting residents to our live scanner, taking requests for firefighters to participate in public events and by openly sharing our union contract information.

Live Scanner
Residents and the media can track incidents that MCFR responds to in real time via the live scanner.
Participation in local events
Marion County residents and businesses can request that an MCFR firefighter appear at a community event by submitting our online request form. Our team enjoys connecting with the community at events & helping reinforce a message of safety and conservation.
Other community outreach
Each year MCFR also embarks on several public education campaigns in an effort to teach children about fire safety, educate the community about water safety & help prevent emergency situations due to falls. These initiatives include the annual Fire Safety Month campaign that takes place each October during which MCFR crews visit more than 30 schools across the county to share life-saving information about how to prevent fires and what to do if they should ever be involved in a structure fire.
In 2013, MCFR launched the “Prepare Protect Prevent” water-safety campaign in hopes of preventing unnecessary drownings & water-related emergencies. This campaign, which is conducted in May in conjunction with Ocala Fire Rescue, Infant Survival Resource & the city of Ocala Recreation & Parks department, reaches parents & guardians of young children through demonstrations performed at public & private pools across the county.
Moreover, falls & fall-related incidents account for a large portion of the EMS calls to which MCFR crew members respond. To combat this, MCFR’s prevention division reaches out to the community with Fall Prevention seminars.
