Learning is an ongoing part of both being a Marion County Fire Rescue firefighter, both as part of individual development & connecting with the community. In an effort to serve & protect the community to its highest ability Marion County Fire Rescue offers programs to help educate both young & old citizens about the importance of fire awareness.
Training
MCFR firefighters are also trained as either emergency medical technicians or paramedics. Many have specialized training in areas such as technical rescue, hazardous materials, fire safety inspection.
Juvenile Firesetters
Members of MCFR's Prevention department teach the two-hour mandatory class, offering it multiple times a year to children & teens between the ages of 4 and 16. Through use of videos, classroom instruction and discussion, participants see first-hand the consequences of playing with fire.

Honor Guard
MCFR's Honor Guard ensures that fellow firefighters who have died, either in the line of duty or after a lifetime of serving their communities, are properly honored & remembered.
