Local governments must periodically review and update their Comprehensive Plans, a process known as an Evaluation and Appraisal Report (EAR) under Florida Law. These plans must cover at least 10 and 20-year planning horizons. However, planning for the next 20 years is just part of the equation. To reduce the contamination of our aquifer and waterways, Marion County is implementing a septic-to-sewer conversion program. This program will help keep septic tanks from polluting our water table and the springs that make Marion County such a picturesque place to live, as well as offering several additional benefits to our citizens.
